Mozilla Firefox is available free-of-charge in more than 35 languages. It's so safe that many users have reported no spy ware infections since they started using it. Firefox 2 opens new web pages in tabs by default. Each of those tabs has its own close button. If you accidentally close a tab, you can go to the History menu to bring it back from the list of “Recently Closed Tabs.” Firefox 2 has built-in spell checking to keep you from making any mistakes in your blog posts and Web-based email, so you can worry about more important things.

SeaMonkey is an Internet application which has everything you need - Web-browser, advanced e-mail and newsgroup client, IRC chat client, and HTML editing made simple.

Shiira is a web browser based on Web Kit and written in Cocoa. The goal of the Shiira Project is to create a browser that is better and more useful than Safari. All source code used in this software is publicly available.

Sunrise is the open-source browser that based on WebKit framework for Mac. It is light and fast. The concept is to add some convenient functions that have not equipped it with other browsers yet. The same rendering engine as Safari is used. Karachi Exporters

pwgen is a popular Unix command line utility to generate passwords. This is the GUI for your mac. It generates passwords which are designed to be easily memorized by humans, while being as secure as possible. And it's open source! 

 

 

Keyboard/Mouse Tools

AutoHotkey is a free, open-source utility for Windows. With it, you can: automate almost anything by sending keystrokes and mouse clicks. You can write a mouse or keyboard macro by hand or use the macro recorder. It allows to create hotkeys for keyboard, joystick, and mouse. Virtually any key, button, or combination can become a hotkey. Expand abbreviations as you type them. For example, typing "btw" can automatically produce "by the way". Create custom data-entry forms, user interfaces, and menu bars. See GUI for details. Remap keys and buttons on your keyboard, joystick, and mouse.

HotKeyzis a keyboard utility with hotkey control for executing other files, folders or RUN commands. Launch applications in a Normal, Minimized or Maximized State. The Parameter option gives you parameter control when launching another application like Internet Explorer and surfing to a specific site as parameter. It also features default hotkeys for minimizing, maximizing, restoring or closing the active window. Launch your default e-mail window to compose a new email. Control your WinAmp without it being focused. Define memo type text and with a hotkey paste your text into your e-mails, documents etc. You can also paste special characters or the current date and time. Open and close your CD-Rom(s). Power off, shutdown, logoff or reboot your PC with a hotkey press. Start your screen saver, hide or unhide your desktop, taskbar or any desktop with a hotkey.

On-Screen Keyboard Portable is a handy way to bring your settings for the Windows' built-in On-Screen Keyboard with you from PC to PC.

WinMacro is a simple Macro recorder/player for Windows written in Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0. It can record whatever you do at your Windows Desktop, and can replay them exactly. It doesn't record video, instead it uses windows hooking mechanisms to monitor your mouse and keyboard events, and plays them back. Therefore the recorded file is much smaller than what would be if you recorded live video, typically in the range of kilobytes.

Volumouse provides you a quick and easy way to control the sound volume on your system - simply by rolling the wheel of your wheel mouse. It allows you to define a set of rules for determining when the wheel will be used for changing the sound volume. For example: You can configure Volumouse to use your mouse wheel for volume control when the Alt key is hold down, when the left mouse button is down, when the mouse cursor is over the taskbar, and so on.

Mouse-Only Keyboard (MOK) is a simple tool that enables entering small pieces of secret text safely, using only the mouse so no hidden keylogger can find your text. You can use it to enter very secret passwords safely in non-trusted machines.

File Recovery Tools

Recuva is a freeware Windows utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted by bugs, crashes and viruses.

CD Recovery Toolbox was developed for recovering damaged files from different disk types: CD, DVD, HD DVD, Blu-Ray, etc. You can use it to restore information lost as a result of some mechanical damage of the disk (scratches, chips, different spots on the surface) or as a result of incorrect recording. Thus, the program can recover data that was considered lost. The CD Recovery Toolbox Free tool scans any CD and DVD disks and finds files and folders located there.

PhotoRec is data recovery software designed to recover lost files including video, documents and archives from Hard Disks and CDRom and lost pictures from digital camera memory. PhotoRec ignores the filesystem and goes after the underlying data, so it will still work even if your media's filesystem has been severely damaged or re-formatted.

Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier recovers files from disks with physical damage. Allows you to copy files from disks with problems such as bad sectors, scratches or that just give errors when reading data. FileExtractor is a free tool for recovering files from a binary data source. Sources such as digital cameras, partitions, harddrives, memory sticks or floppy disks may be corrupted, deleted or formatted by mistake. Once the file system is destroyed you need a tool such as FileExtractor to recover your files.

SoftPerfect File Recovery is a free and useful tool to restore accidentally deleted files from hard and floppy disks, USB flash drives, CF and SD cards and other storage media. It supports the popular file systems such as FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS and NTFS5 with compression and encryption. NTFS Undelete is free software that allows you to recover deleted files. It recovers files directly from hard drive, and it will work even if you empty Recycle Bin.

It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network.

rulesPlayer is a clean and easy-to-use GUI for MPlayer under Windows, written in D and DWT. rulesPlayer supports most popular media files (AVI, 3gp, ASF, FLV, Matroska, MOV QuickTime, MP4, NUT, Ogg, OGM, RealMedia, DivX plus many more) supported by many native, XAnim, and Win32 DLL codecs. MPlayerGUI depends on MPlayer, it can play MPEG, AVI, ASF/WMV, QuickTime/MOV, RealMedia RM/RMVB, MPEG4, MP3, WMA, WAV files with no need to install any codecs to your system. It's freeware, portable software. You can treat MPlayer as the engine and MPlayerGUI as the shell.

MPlayer is arguably the best media player application of the world. Is is almost strictly monolithic, which means that it mainly consists of a single 7 MB executable that already contains all necessary codecs – for most files, it does not need any external codecs to be installed. The roots of MPlayer are in the Unix environment, and it shows in the way MPlayer is used: There is no graphical user interface, or at least none worth mentioning. Instead, MPlayer completely relies on a well-crafted command line interface and powerful keyboard shortcuts.

FLV Player is a standlone utility to play Adobe Flash Video files with. I created it because I didn’t want to have to open the Flash IDE in order to be able to view FLV Files. FLV Player is compatible with Windows 2000, XP and Vista.
